Apples in puff pastry

How to Make Apples in Puff Pastry
Menu:Breakfast,
Time: 55 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 8

Apples in puff pastry are a favorite dessert in many countries. Apples are typically wrapped or dipped in dough and fried or baked until crispy. This recipe makes it easier to prepare because there's no need to knead the dough. Instead, wrap the apples in ready-made puff pastry, top them with a sweet creamy sauce, sprinkle with cinnamon, and bake in the oven. You can also wrap raisins or dates with the apples if desired. Apples in puff pastry can be served with a scoop of ice cream or as a standalone dessert with a glass of milk or a cup of tea. The warm, spicy aroma of baked apples with cinnamon will leave no one indifferent!

Ingredients:

  • 2 apples
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 110 g butter
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 layer (200-250 g) of puff pastry, lightly rolled out
  • 4 tsp ground cinnamon
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Peel and core the apples and slice each vertically into 8 slices. Squeeze the lemon juice into a bowl of water and soak the apples to prevent them from browning. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 3/4 cup sugar, butter, and vanilla. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Step 2
  • Cut the dough crosswise into four pieces, then cut each piece in half. Wrap an apple slice in each layer, pulling the edges of the dough toward the opposite edge to seal. Place the wrapped apples, seam side down, in a casserole measuring 22 x 30 x 5 cm. Drizzle with the hot sugar mixture. Mix the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle on the apples. Bake until golden brown, about 35 minutes.
