Baked apples are a delicious pastry that melts in your mouth and before your eyes. The preparation requires little effort, and the room will be filled with an incredible aroma during the process. This dessert pairs well with vanilla ice cream. Modifications to the dish that might make it even more delicious include adding a pinch of ground nutmeg and using 1 cup of sugar (regular and brown sugar in a 1:1 ratio) instead of 1.5 cups.

  • 2 apples
  • 250 g butter, extra for greasing the pan
  • 450 g (2 layers) frozen puff pastry
  • 1.5 cups of sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 250 ml of sweet, citrus-flavored sparkling water, such as Mountain Dew
  • Cinnamon for sprinkling
