Cheese bread with 4 types of cheese and baked garlic

How to Make - Four-Cheese Cheese Bread with Roasted Garlic
Time: 1 hour 55 minutes
Complexity: easily
Servings: 6-8

A loaf of bread is cut into cubes, but not all the way through so that all the cubes hold together like a hedgehog, filled with cheese, and baked in the oven. This makes a very quick, delicious, and impressive appetizer for a crowd. The cheese filling will be more interesting and rich if you mix four types of cheese, such as mozzarella, Parmesan, Romano, and Fontina. Add roasted garlic, fresh green onions, and spices to the mixture, spoon the filling into the slits, and bake the loaf in foil. Serve the bread hot, and everyone will be breaking off a piece covered in gooey cheese.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 0.5 tbsp. grated mozzarella
  • 0.5 cup grated fontina cheese
  • 0.5 tbsp. grated parmesan
  • 0.5 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 2 tsp chopped chives
  • 0.5 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 round loaf of country or sourdough bread
  • 110 g salted butter, melted
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 190°C.
  • Step 2
  • Place the garlic cloves on a square sheet of heavy-duty foil, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Wrap and roast until the garlic is golden brown, nutty, and mushy, about 1 hour. Let cool. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  • Step 3
  • In a bowl, combine garlic with 4 types of cheese, chives, red pepper flakes and black pepper.
  • Step 4
  • Slice the bread into strips in one direction, being careful not to cut all the way through. Rotate the bread 90 degrees and slice the other direction in the same way. Fill the bread with the cheese mixture between the rows. Drizzle with melted butter.
  • Step 5
  • Wrap the loaf in foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbling. Serve immediately.
