You'll agree, chicken and waffles is an unusual combination. However, this dish has long been popular in America, being considered a part of the soul food movement. Soul food has African roots and originated in the United States during slavery, when slaves sought to relieve their distress by preparing their favorite African dishes. Over time, these dishes evolved and were supplemented with new European ingredients.

Fried chicken is typically served on waffles and drizzled with a sweet and savory sauce. But if you put it and a side dish in a waffle cone, it makes a great lunch to take on the go. Kids will also appreciate this serving method.

Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey thoroughly. hot sauce and red pepper.
  • Step 2
  • Using an ice cream scoop, scoop about 1/4 cup mashed potatoes into each cone, top with 3-4 nuggets, drizzle with some hot honey sauce, and serve.
