How to Make Baked Apples
Menu:Dinner,
Time: 1 hour 20 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4

This fruity dessert is filled with the fabulous flavor and aroma of apple pie, but without the pie and calories! Before baking, a mixture of butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans is stuffed into the center of each apple. In the oven, all the flavors meld beautifully, creating a delicious low-calorie dessert that can be served as is or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle the baked apples with the juices from the pan and enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large baking apples, such as Honeycrisp
  • 55 g softened butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 190°C.
  • Step 2
  • Wash the apples and core them, leaving enough core at the base of the apple to hold the filling.
  • Step 3
  • Combine butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans in a small bowl. Form the mixture into cylindrical shapes and press them into each apple to fill the center.
  • Step 4
  • Fill a 2-quart baking dish with about 3/4 cup water, or enough to cover the bottom of the dish. Stand the apples upright in the dish. Bake until the apples are tender and the filling is golden brown, 1 hour.
