Maple Bacon Dip

Natural maple syrup and crispy bacon bits combine in this smooth Greek yogurt dip, creating a wonderful appetizer perfect for breakfast or dessert. Tart Granny Smith apples are ideal for dipping (squeeze the slices with lemon juice to prevent browning), but you can also serve it with any other apples or crackers.

Ingredients:

  • 8 thick slices of bacon
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp. l. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/8 tsp maple flavoring
  • 4-5 Granny Smith apples
  • Juice of 1 lemon
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until lightly crisp, 10-12 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess fat and set aside.
  • Step 2
  • In a medium bowl, combine yogurt, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and maple flavoring. Mix until smooth.
  • Step 3
  • Chop the bacon into pieces. Stir two-thirds of the bacon into the yogurt sauce and transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle the remaining bacon over the dip.
  • Step 4
  • Slice the apples and sprinkle with lemon juice. Serve with dipping sauce.
