Fresh dill and sour cream transform a simple summer salad into something cool, creamy, and refreshing. Try this classic cucumber salad with black bread and smoked salmon, or as a simple side dish for grilled chicken or fish.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cucumbers (about 1 kg), peeled and cut into 0.5 cm thick circles.
  • 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.

1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Place a large colander in a large bowl. Drain the cucumbers and onions, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of salt, and toss. Let stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour, but no more than 2 hours.
  • Step 2
  • Transfer the cucumbers and onions from the colander to a baking sheet lined with paper towels and pat dry with another layer of paper towels.
  • Step 3
  • In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, dill, vinegar, and a few grinds of black pepper. Add cucumbers and onions and toss to combine.
