Buffalo dip is a popular treat at American house parties, renowned for its high fat content and, therefore, its delicious flavor. This slow cooker version is made with low-calorie ingredients, but the result is just as fantastic. It uses reduced-fat cream cheese and cheddar, white meat chicken, buttermilk, and a touch of blue cheese for flavor. Serve warm with celery and carrot sticks for dipping and enjoy a low-calorie, savory appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • 2 x 220g packages reduced-fat cream cheese, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups of minced white meat grilled chicken, discard the skin and bones
  • 2 cups shredded reduced-fat cheddar (about 170 g)
  • 1 cup of sour milk or kefir
  • 1/3 cup hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp. premium flour
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 cup chopped parsley leaves
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • Carrot and celery sticks, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Combine cream cheese, chicken, cheddar, buttermilk, hot sauce, flour, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a slow cooker.
  • Step 2
  • Cover and cook on high for 2 hours until the mixture is bubbling and the cheddar is melted. Stir until smooth. Sprinkle with parsley and crumbled blue cheese, cool slightly, and serve with celery and carrot sticks.
