Simple syrup is a common ingredient in cocktails and desserts. If you usually buy it, you'll be surprised how easy it is to make your own. The basic principle is to take equal parts sugar and water and dissolve the sugar in the water. You can make a large amount of syrup and store it in the refrigerator for up to a month, then use it in your creations as needed.


Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp of water
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and cool completely. Can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 month.
