Amaretto is known for its vibrant almond flavor and sweetness, but in the Amaretto Sour, this sweetness is perfectly balanced by lemon juice, while the heady aroma and flavor of almonds remain intact. In this version of the cocktail, they are harmoniously complemented by the light fruity notes of Prosecco, which also adds a sparkling and refreshing touch. Perfect for summer! Garnish the rim of the glass with a sugar rim and citrus zest and serve with ice cubes and lime and lemon wedges.


Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 0.5 cup sugar + 1/4 cup sugar for garnishing the rim of the glass
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Juice of half a lemon (save the remaining half to grease the rim of the glass)
  • 3/4 cup Prosecco
  • 2 tbsp. l. Amaretto liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon and lime wedges, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Sugar syrup:

    In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup water with 0.5 cup sugar and heat over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring until all the sugar has dissolved. Remove the saucepan from the heat and set the syrup aside to cool.
  • Step 2
  • Sugar rims:

    In a shallow bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar with the lemon and lime zest. Rub the lemon zest evenly around the rim of the glass, inside and out. Lightly press the rim of the glass into the sugar mixture to ensure it adheres.
  • Step 3
  • In a small pitcher, combine Prosecco, Amaretto, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of cooled simple syrup. Pour the cocktail into a decorated glass filled with ice. Garnish with lemon and lime wedges.
