For the base of this cocktail, choose any whiskey you have on hand: Scotch, Irish, Canadian, or bourbon. Traditionally, the spirit is mixed with lemon juice and simple syrup, but to save time searching for or making syrup, simply prepare a separate sour mix and mix it with the whiskey. Serve the Whiskey Sour after a meal, garnishing each serving with a cocktail cherry, and enjoy the balance of tart and sweet flavors.


Ingredients:


Whiskey
  • 45 ml whiskey (bourbon, scotch, Canadian or Irish whiskey)
  • 120 ml syrup, recipe below
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 maraschino cherry

Syrup
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 30 g of sugar
  • 60 ml of water
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • Combine whiskey and sour mix in a large glass with ice. Stir, garnish with a cherry, and serve.

    Sour mix (120 ml).

    Mix lemon juice and sugar, then dilute with water and stir to dissolve the sugar.
