This New Orleans cocktail is considered one of America's oldest cocktails. Traditionally made with cognac, Sunny Anderson substituted whiskey for her recipe, and opted for Greek ouzo instead of absinthe. Try this classic with a new twist!

Ingredients:

  • 90 ml of whiskey
  • 60 ml ouzo
  • 2 drops of bitters
  • 2 tbsp. sugar syrup
  • Lemon zest twist, for garnish
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
  • Step 2
  • Add whiskey, ouzo, bitters, and simple syrup (mix equal parts water and sugar and heat until the sugar dissolves completely; let the syrup cool). Stir and garnish with a lemon twist.
