Puff pastry buns with sausage and honey mustard

How to Make - Puff Pastry Buns with Sausage and Honey Mustard
Menu:Breakfast,
Time: 1 hour.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4 - 6

This interesting alternative to sausage rolls makes a great appetizer for any occasion. It's incredibly easy to make with just three ingredients. Store-bought puff pastry is spread with honey mustard, sprinkled with pieces of Polish smoked sausage, and rolled into a roll. At this point, you can refrigerate the dough for a few hours. This will help it set better, making it easier to cut the roll into individual buns. It's also a great way to prepare everything in advance and pop it in the oven for when guests arrive, as these puff pastries are best eaten warm.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry (half a 500g package), thawed
  • Premium flour for working with dough
  • 1/3 cup honey mustard
  • 220 g Polish smoked sausage, diced (about 1.5 cups)
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
  • Place the puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface. Using a rolling pin, gently roll it out into a 25 x 37.5 cm rectangle. Using a small offset spatula, spread the honey mustard evenly over the dough, reaching the edges, then sprinkle the sausage pieces over the mustard.
  • Step 3
  • Starting from the long side, roll the dough into a log, then pinch the seam and place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate the log for at least 30 minutes to firm up; this will make it easier to cut.
  • Step 4
  • Cut the chilled dough into 1 cm thick slices (you should have 20-22 slices) and place the slices cut-side down on a baking sheet. Trim the slices into round shapes if necessary.
  • Step 5
  • Bake until the puff pastries are puffed and golden brown, about 18 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and serve.

    Note

The dough roll can be kept in the refrigerator for several hours before slicing and baking.
