How to Make - Berry Treasure Dessert in a Jar
Kitchen:American,

Complexity: easily

Recently, making desserts in jars has become very popular. Besides looking charming and unique, they're also convenient to take on the go. This is especially helpful if you're going on a picnic. A dessert in a sealed jar won't spill, dent, or stain, and will just sit there waiting for its turn.

Make a fantastically delicious Berry Treasure Parfait. Layer chocolate spread, cream cheese, and raspberries in jars. It's the perfect flavor combination to spread on cookies. And for those with a sweet tooth, you can eat it with a spoon straight from the jar.

Ingredients:

  • 240 g cream cheese, room temperature
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)
  • 2 cups of raspberries
  • Shortbread, slices of baguette or savoiardi cookies, for filing
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla with a mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Place 1/4 cup of chocolate spread into two 360 ml glass or plastic jars and smooth into an even layer. Then spoon half the cream cheese filling into the jars and sprinkle with a handful of berries. Repeat the layer of chocolate, cream cheese, and berries. Serve with cookies or baguette slices. Or, close the jars and take them with you. (The cream cheese filling can be made the day before. Cover and refrigerate, then take it out to come to room temperature before preparing the dessert.)
