Even if you decide to simply boil broccoli, there are some nuances to consider to ensure you get a beautiful, bright green side dish with an equally vibrant flavor. Drop the broccoli florets into boiling, salted water and cook for about 2 minutes. The florets should retain their shape, become slightly softer, and not overcook. Serve with a drizzle of lemon juice. It makes a delicious and healthy side dish for any meal.


Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch of broccoli (about 450 g)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Rinse the broccoli in cold water and pat dry. Peel the stems and trim them just below the florets. Separate the florets.
  • Step 2
  • Bring a saucepan of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and cook, uncovered, until tender, 2-3 minutes depending on their size. Drain in a colander, transfer to a plate, sprinkle with salt and black pepper, and serve with lemon wedges.
