Pizza in a waffle iron

How to Make Pizza in a Waffle Iron
Time: 30 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4

Ree Drummond's recipe for a quick, delicious waffle-maker pizza is primarily aimed at students living in dorms, but it's also perfect for anyone who simply doesn't want to preheat the oven, especially on hot summer days. All the ingredients can be purchased pre-made at the supermarket (pre-made dough, grated cheese, cold cuts, and grilled vegetables from the deli section). For her pizza, Ree chose a combination of salty ham and sweet pineapple chunks, but you can experiment with any toppings you like.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat waffle iron over high heat according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Step 2
  • To make 1 pizza, stretch or roll out a quarter of the pizza dough to a size slightly smaller than the waffle iron. Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray and place the dough on the plate. Close the lid and cook until the dough is golden brown, 2-3 minutes, depending on the power of your waffle iron.
  • Step 3
  • Open the lid and spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the pizza. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes and oregano. Top with a layer of mozzarella, top with slices of ham and pineapple, and arrange the roasted vegetables on top. Sprinkle with another layer of mozzarella. Close the lid and cook until the cheese is melted, 1–2 minutes. Remove the pizza and enjoy. Be careful, it will be hot!
