A refreshing iced tea for a hot day. You can mix a batch, refrigerate it, and sip it over ice throughout the day. Lemon juice and zest, along with lemon ice cubes, add a bright citrus flavor. For this recipe, brew strong black tea so its flavor doesn't get lost among the other ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large lemons
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1 cup of warm black tea
  • 90 ml. whiskey, such as Johnnie Walker Black Label
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Prepare ice cubes:

    Combine lemon zest, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoons sugar, and hot water in a heat-safe liquid measuring cup. Pour the liquid into a standard ice cube tray and freeze.
  • Step 2
  • Make a cocktail:

    In a blender, combine the tea, whiskey, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, and the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Blend and set aside to dissolve the sugar.
  • Step 3
  • Place a few ice cubes in 2 glasses. Add a couple of ice cubes to a blender and blend. Pour half the cocktail into each glass. If desired, rim the glasses with lemon slices. Garnish the cocktail with lemon slices.
