Chicken wings in sweet chili garlic sauce

These delicious sweet and spicy wings are perfect with beer and are quite easy to make. Bake them in the oven until crispy and immediately toss them in a homemade apricot jam and Sriracha sauce. Top the sticky wings with chopped green onions and enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1.3 kg chicken wings, cut into 2 pieces (discard the tips)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 cup apricot jam
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1-2 tsp. sriracha sauce
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper. Divide the wings between the sheets, season with salt and pepper. Place skin-side up and bake until golden brown and crispy, about 40 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook, stirring, until the garlic is golden, 1-2 minutes. Add the apricot jam, sugar, soy sauce, and Sriracha and bring to a boil. Pour the sauce into a large bowl.
  • Step 3
  • When the wings are done, use tongs to transfer them to the bowl with the sauce and toss to coat completely. Sprinkle with chives.
